book Taking the PSAT/NMSQT, SAT II & I and the ACT are important steps in preparing for college. It can be confusing which tests to take and when, but it does not have to be. Here are some important dates, information and reminders on these various tests.

PSAT:
In September, students should review the Official Student Guide and take the Practice Test inside. On collegeboard.com, students can create My Organizer, a free tool that will guide them through the PSAT/NMSQT process. The test is offered in October. The PSAT/NMSQT is the best preparation for the SAT Reasoning Test. Students in eleventh grade who take the test and meet other program requirements may enter National Merit Scholarship programs, but students can take the test as early as their freshman year.

SAT:
The SAT Reasoning Test is a measure of the critical thinking skills students need for academic success in college. The test is offered throughout the year. To register for the SAT and to find out the dates offered, log on to www.collegeboard.com

ACT: The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. The ACT tests are universally accepted for college admission. To register and find dates for the ACT, log on to www.actstudent.org
. The College and Career Center carries prep booklets, library books and offers free workshops regarding the PSAT, SAT and ACT tests.
