World History Class Information

 

CLASSROOM CONDUCT

Students will conduct themselves in the classroom as would be acceptable in any workplace; therefore, acceptable conduct in the class is defined as:

 1. Be On time- Students are expected to arrive to class and be quietly seated and working when the class period begins.

2. Be Prepared- Students are expected to arrive to class prepared to begin the period. Paper, writing instruments (pen and pencil), textbooks and completed homework assignments should be brought to class.

3. Be Respectful- Students are expected to show respect for educators and each other at all times.

 

CLASS REQUIREMENTS

The following materials need to be brought to class every day:

1. Paper, pencils, and a pen

2. School Agenda

3. Any assigned textbook or workbook

4. Any completed homework/ required assignment(s) ready to turn in

5. AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!

 

 

COURSE GOALS

History 7: World History and Geography Units we will cover:

 

1. Connecting with past learning: uncovering the remote past (1-2 weeks)

 

2. Connecting with past learning: the fall of Rome (2 weeks)

 

3. Growth of Islam (3 weeks)

 

4. African states in the middle ages and early modern times (3 weeks)

 

5. China (3 weeks)

 

6. Japan (2 weeks)

 

7. Medieval society of Europe (4 weeks)

 

8. Europe during the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the Scientific Revolution  

     (4-6 weeks)

 

9. Early modern Europe: the age of exploration to the Enlightenment (6 weeks)

 

10. Civilizations of the Americas (3 weeks)

 

*Every Chapter will end with a chapter test and every unit will end with a unit project.

 

 

GRADING POLICY

All graded items are input into one of the following categories:

Tests =                                        40% of your grade

Work Book Pages =                  10% of your grade

Class Projects =                        10% of your grade

Citizenship & Participation =    20% of your grade

Chapter Reviews =                    10% of your grade

Worksheets =                             10% of your grade

Extra Credit =                          Additional points (not weighed)

100% - 95%                             A+

94% - 91%                               A

90% - 88%                               A-

87% - 84%                               B+

83% - 81%                               B

80% - 78%                               B-

76% - 74%                               C+

73% - 71%                               C

70% - 68%                               C-

67% - 64%                               D+

63% - 61%                               D

60% - 50%                               D-

 

Extra Credit Policy

*Extra credit will not exceed 15% of entire grade

Extra Credit ASIGNMENTS:

Extra Credit writing/research paper  Teacher assigned topic (up to 100 points)

Presentation of Research findings (up to 25 points)

In class research (up to 10 pts./day)

Extra Credit for bringing in needed SUPPLIES: (UP TO)

Pkg. of pencils or pens (25 pts)

Pkg. of binder paper (25 pts)

Box of tissue or paper towels (15 pts)

Pkg. of  index cards (25 pts)

Pkg. of candy (i.e. Halloween candy) used for student rewards (25 pts)
