Local schools improve standardized test scores

FAIRFIELD
- Fairfield-Suisun schools beat the state average for
improvement in the Academic Performance Index scores released
Wednesday and all schools in the Fairfield-Suisun, Travis and
Vacaville districts reached the desired federal level for the
same state tests...
Of
Fairfield-Suisun's 28 schools, the biggest API score jump came
from Crystal Middle School, which increased 68 points, one
better than Fairfield High. Two elementary schools - Cleo Gordon
and Fairfield - had declines in their API scores.

Fairfield-Suisun district encouraging national certification

FAIRFIELD -
Dozens of Fairfield-Suisun teachers plan to improve their
teaching skills by gaining certification through a a nationally
acclaimed program.
"It's enriching
for teachers," said Roxanne Mancha, a national board certified
recipient and teacher at Crystal Middle School. "I learned a lot
about designing lessons and modifying work to fit the needs of
particular students."

Benefit Concert for the music program at Crystal Middle School

SUISUN -
A benefit for the music program of Crystal Middle School in Suisun City, at Solano College on Mother's Day, featured as headliners singer Jamie Davis and the Delbert Bump Big Band. But the unforgettable experience for the kids, said producer Jeff Trager, was when the school's 41-member band was joined onstage by Greg Errico from Sly and the Family Stone, Michael Carabello of Santana's band and Roberto Quintana of Spearhead, playing "Oye Como Va'' and "Everyday People.''
